The Hong Kong Institute of Architects Annual Awards 2012 book centred its design on the theme of “texture,” drawing inspiration from the raw and tangible qualities of concrete plank. A bespoke typography, meticulously crafted to resemble concrete, was developed to establish a distinctive and tactile visual identity, directly reinforcing the materiality theme. This unique typographic language was seamlessly integrated into the book’s dividers, complemented by a cohesive grey colour palette that permeated the entire publication. The design effectively communicated the foundational elements of architecture, creating a tangible representation of the award’s focus on structure and material, while also serving as a distinguished tribute to the award recipients’ achievements.
