The Past is Continuing
Project by c plus c workshop
For “The Past is Continuing” exhibition at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, a cohesive narrative was created to connect 18 contemporary artists’ reinterpretations of historical artifacts with the museum’s permanent collection. The exhibition, showcasing diverse media from painting and ceramics to fashion design and new media, explored the dialogue between tradition and modernity, offering fresh perspectives on cultural continuity and transformation.
The key visual design powerfully symbolised this fusion, featuring a dynamic icon that merged elements from each artist’s work and their corresponding museum-inspired artifacts. This icon became the central motif, woven throughout the exhibition’s environmental graphics and creating a “time tunnel” effect that visually linked the past and present. Challenging the traditional single-hall exhibit format, the design integrated the artworks with the museum’s existing displays, transforming the entire space into an immersive experience.

To further engage visitors, a stamp collection activity was conceived and designed, encouraging exploration and deeper connection with the art and historical pieces. Visitors collected stamps of the key visual on their pamphlets, creating a memorable and interactive journey through the exhibition’s blend of cultural legacy and contemporary artistic perspectives.
